During the 1950s some sitcoms are so popular that during the advertisements, so many people went to the bathroom that the sewer systems got clogged. The sitcoms are about traditional families, but they are also about various types of blended families. Each decade of American history from the 1950s to the 2020s can be studied by the sitcoms that were developed during that particular period. Near the end, an unexpected force enters the scene and solves the problem, leaning the characters ready for the next week's. Shows begin with a humorous complication, which the characters can solve, but usually make worse. Each segment has its own plot so that the shows circle around to end much as they began, with the setting and the music being the same. During the Covid-19 Pandemic we saw "Half Brothers," and "Irristible" in 2020, "Don't Look Up, "Encanto," and "Ghostbusters Afterlife" in 2021, and "Hotel Transylvania Transformation," Minions: The Ruse of Gru," and "Sonic, the Hedgehog 2." This dark humor continues into the 1980s with "The World According to Garp," "Children of a Lesser God," Who Framed Roger Rabbit," and "War of the Roses." There is even more dark humor in the 1990s with "Pulp Fiction," "Fargo," "Men in Black," "The Big Labowski," "Life is Beautiful," "Man on the Moon," and "Being John Malkovich." The 2000s is a the period of Irony, Satire, Parody, and Sarcasm, as we see such movies as "Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events," "The Producers,""Borat," "Zohan," and "Inglourious Basterds." In the next decade we watch "We're the Millers," "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, "Fahrenheit 451," and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." Various types of "Screwball Comedies" came out during each of these decades. Strangelove," "Catch 22" "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," "Slaughterhouse Five," "the "Rocky Horror Picture Show," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," Monty Python's "Holy Grail," and "Life of Brian," Jersy Kozinsky's "Being There," and "Stephen King's "Carrie" of the 1960s and 1970s.
Thus, we can see the Silent Movies of the Marx Brothers, Laurel and Hardy, and the Three Stooges of the 1930s, the mysteries of Agathy Christie and Alfred Hitchcock of the 1950s, Romantic Comedies like "The Seven Year Itch," "Some Like it Hot," West Side Story," "My Fair Lady" "Mary Poppins," and "The Sound of Music" of the late 1950s and early 1960s, the dark comedies of "Dr. By looking at the history of movies in the United States, it is possible to gain insights into the Zeitgeist of each decade in American history from the 1930s until the present time (2022).
